Artistry in glass has been synonymous with the town of Sandwich, Massachusetts for almost two centuries; first as the site of the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company factory, and later as the home of artists who used the glass factory remnants to make decorative works if jewelry. One of the most talented artists, Hazel Blake French, interpreted the jewel-like beauty of Sandwich glass fragments through her creations of intricate and sculptural jewelry, inspired by the indigenous flora and fauna of Cape Cod.
