The Sandwich Historical Society and its Glass Museum collects, preserves, and interprets the history of the Town of Sandwich, the oldest town on Cape Cod. A large part of Sandwich history is involved with American glass production.

Glass manufacturing made its way to Cape Cod in 1825 when Deming Jarves opened the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company. Providing skilled immigrants from East Cambridge better working conditions, housing and opportunities, the company helped usher in the Industrial Revolution on Cape Cod and provided women well paying jobs beyond nurse or teacher.
