Color & Chemistry

You are here: Home / exhibits / Color & Chemistry
February 15, 2017 by dunewalker

A walk inside the Color & Chemistry room brings James Lloyd, the factory chemist, to life as he describes the travails of creating innovative colors to make the factory’s glass more competitive. Cabinets mysteriously open to reveal his secret batch book, his favorite glass. A handkerchief on the counter flutters as he complains about the uranium dust he uses to make a beautiful canary yellow. The 2 1/2 minute demonstration is full of surprises and entertaining as well as educational.
