American Glass: 1st Annual Glass Bazaar (Tented Sale)

Our 1st annual July “Glass Bazaar” celebrates the birth month of the Sandwich Glass Factory, The Sandwich Historical Society, and the birth of our nation. Come browse the wares of local glass artists and take home a piece of American history!

The spirit of American ingenuity and entrepreneurship was kindled here in Sandwich, Massachusetts, in July nearly 200 years ago. The first step in the journey to mass production of industrialized glassware in the United States, known as “Sandwich Glass”, began when the factory bell rang for the first time on July 4, 1825. Artists and crafts people worked together for years to realize Deming Jarves’ vision for democratized access to beautiful glass tableware and ornaments. Over hundred year later, on July 5, 1907, The Sandwich Historical Society was founded, its mission to document and celebrate that years of industry that transformed our town and enriched the lives of many. And of course we all know July as the month in which we celebrate the birth of the USA, which continues to grant the artists of today the freedom to express their talents and share their work.

The July Glass Bazaar celebrates the spirit of creativity along with the spirit of American ingenuity within the local, regional, and national glass art community. Glass artists will challenge themselves to create and debut new works and/or new perspectives on their signature designs. Celebrate July with us by acquiring a unique handcrafted work of art.
