Cady Coleman & Josh Simpson

We were honored and delighted to welcome Cady Coleman and Josh Simpson to the gallery opening of Josh's exhibition, "50 Years of Visionary Glass" the evening of May 31st. The evening started with a private reception for donors and Patron level members of the Museum, followed by two inspiring presentations in the auditorium.
Catherine "Cady" Coleman is a truly inspiring individual. Not only is she a chemist, an engineer, a former United States Air Force colonel, and a veteran of two Space Shuttle missions, she is a musician and has performed a flute duet with Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. A true rock star in every way. Oh, and she's married to...
Josh Simpson, glass artist extraordinaire!Ā He is best known for his "planets", which are intricate glass paperweights ranging in size from 1" marbles to 12" diameter sculptures. He originally began making planets in the mid-1970s; inspired by the story of the Apollo astronauts seeing the earth hanging in space like a blue marble, he began creating marble-sized planets out of glass. This early inspiration developed into a major artistic direction. In addition to exhibiting and selling these works, Simpson also hides them in various settings across the globe, and even offers the public the opportunity to participate through his Infinity Project. After the talks Josh and Cady signed their books and chatted with the crowd.Ā
And it was quite a crowd! We had more than 100 people that evening, which made for a very lively atmosphere.
We're delighted to be welcoming Josh's artwork back to our Center Gallery. The show runs through the end of October. We hope you will stop by!
