Discover GlassRoom
An Interactive Exhibit for Kids!
Step into the art and science of glassmaking!
Our newest permanent exhibit, the Discover GlassRoom, is a hands-on, interactive replica of the Sandwich Glass Museum’s own hot shop—designed especially for young explorers. Children of all ages can experience the magic of glassblowing through safe, simulated activities. Try out real tools, sit at the gaffer’s bench, and even press your own simulated glass cup plate.
Come discover the beauty, creativity, and craftsmanship behind every piece of glass—only at the Sandwich Glass Museum!
Inspired by the Sandwich Glass Museum’s very own Hot Shop, the new Discover GlassRoom invites children of all ages to explore the fascinating art and science of glassmaking in a fun, hands-on environment. This interactive exhibit features a simulated “hot” furnace and gaffer’s bench, where kids can step into the shoes of a glass artist and learn how molten glass is shaped into beautiful works of art.
With specially designed cold tools and safe, tactile materials that mimic real glasswork, young visitors will engage in imaginative play while gaining a deeper understanding of glassmaking techniques, tools, and the creative process behind this centuries-old craft.
