July 4th Parade

July 4th Parade

This year we marched in the Sandwich Town 4th of July Parade!

David McDermott's truck featured the young Charles Lapham (our own Cole Alexander), who famously was the 16 year old glass blower to take the first gather of glass from the newly established factory in July of 1825. Cole ... I mean Charles! was so convincing in his role that some parade watchers were left wondering ... was he really blowing glass?

It was very gratifying to hear the enthusiastic cheering from the crowd. We're so proud to be a part of the social fabric of this wonderful town!

We are SO grateful to you, David McDermott, for making this event happen! Not only did you design and build the banner hangers, you also created the very convincing molten glass bulb used to portray glassblowing. And thank you Cole Alexander for playing Charles Lapham so convincingly, much to the delight of the crowd. Big thanks too to all our cheery marchers: Yukimi Matsumoto, Michelle Alexander, Margy and Bill O'Brien, Catherine and Claire Thomas, Bonnie and Damon Lilienfeld, Jay and Susan Weber, and Dale Rogers. Last but not least, thank you Madeline Little for procuring the balloons and candy. This was a real team effort!
