Glass making is an ancient and beautiful art form. Come experience the endless variation of color and form that has mesmerized glass makers and artists for millennia. We invite you to embark on a journey through time from pre-history to the present day as we narrate and celebrate the story of glass making in Sandwich, MA.
Hours & Admission
Through Dec 30th we are open daily from 9:30 - 5, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Admission closes at 4:30.
Adult admission to the Museum's galleries and to see a glassblowing demonstration is $14. See Plan Your Visit for the full schedule of admission fees as well as other helpful info regarding accessibility, parking, seasonal hours, etc.
Visiting the Gift Shop is free and open to the public with no admission fee.
Bi-centennial Celebration
In 2025 the Sandwich Glass Museum of the Sandwich Historical Society is celebrating 200 years of glassmaking in Sandwich MA.
Exhibitions
In addition to our permanent collection we have several galleries devoted to special exhibitions that change seasonally. We are currently celebrating Sandwich painter Dodge Macknight in our Center Gallery through March 31st.
Special Events
We are continually hosting special events, so check our calendar frequently! In 2025 we're celebrating the bi-centennial of glassmaking in Sandwich, so our event themes are "Illuminating the Past, Sparking the Future".
Glassblowing Demonstrations
Live 20 minute demonstrations of the art of glassblowing take place every hour on the hour, starting at 10 am.
Museum Gift Shop
Our spectacular Museum Gift Shop features contemporary hand blown glass made on site by our demo glassblowers and by other American glass artists. Much of the art we carry was made locally, as dozens of glassblowers have made Cape Cod and New England their home.
Admission to the gift shop is free.
Museum Galleries
From ancient Egypt to the present day, learn the history of glassmaking, and of the 19th century glass factory in Sandwich. Then apply your newfound historical knowledge to enhance your appreciation of the glass art on display in the Contemporary Gallery and Museum Gift Shop.

Whether it's a wedding, corporate event, reunion, or private gathering, our versatile space can accommodate up to 180 guests.
