April 2025 Events

We are GEARING UP (pun intended!) for our historical re-enactment of the 1825 groundbreaking of the first glass factory in Sandwich, scheduled for Saturday April 26th, 3-7pm. Not only has Jim Ellis kindly offered his very fun trolley for transport, we've got our amateur cast lined up, including our own John Kennan as Deming Jarves, the original entrepreneur who 200 years ago picked Sandwich as the site of his new industrial age venture.

We hope you will join us as we have a ton of fun attempting to recreate the factory groundbreaking scene 200 years ago. Top hats! Empire waists! Bonnets and scarves galore! We plan to have some costumes to loan out, but would be thrilled if you wear your own, or even just pop on a flat cap and wrap a scarf around your neck.

So save the date! Meet us Saturday April 26th at 3pm in the Sandwich Glass Museum parking lot. We will all walk or ride together to the old factory site at Factory & Jarves, hold our re-enactment, then head back to the museum for further festivities.

In other news...

Summer is Coming!

Starting April 1st we're open 7 days a week!

And another thing: as of April 1st Glass Experiences are still on, but now they will start at 4pm rather than 3, since we're staying open later.

Whew! You get the idea: we're Celebrating the bi-centennial of glassmaking in the Town of Sandwich with a Capital C. You can find the full list of our public events on our online calendar; we will post any schedule change or event plan updates on our website and on Facebook.

Let the festivities begin!

P.S. If you've been thinking of joining the Museum, this year would be a great year to do so. Members get free admission to special events, and we have a lot of them planned!
