Glass Gathering 2025

On the evening of Friday July 25th we held a Silent Auction to raise funds for the Museum, in an event we called the "Glass Gathering", a reference to the fact that the first industrial gather of glass in Sandwich 200 years ago was in mid July 1825.

Originally planned for under the tent outdoors, the event was moved inside at the last minute due to high winds and rain from a passing storm. Executive Director Mary Childs opened the event with some insightful and inspiring remarks...

...followed by Trustee Margy O'Brien, who spoke to the Museum's educational mission and related a charming story about how we recently inspired one particular member of the next generation of glass artists.

Then the band started to play and the food was served, and it was time to place your bids on the 

The evening was intimate and festive, and a golden opportunity to meet and get to know a glass artist, with many of the donating artists in attendance. A wonderful time was had by all!
