In Spring of 2026 we are celebrating Spring with a fundraising campaign in support of the SGM Glass Academy

Week 1

SGM Glass Academy is Growing!

In 2026, we are growing and strengthening SGM Glass Academy — a hands-on educational mission and a lasting commitment to creative learning. The demand for classes has outpaced the space designed to support it. It is time to give SGM Glass Academy a permanent, enhanced home — a dedicated environment where creative learning can thrive year-round.

To bring our vision to life, we must raise $75,000.

Gifts of $500 or more will be acknowledged with a limited-edition blown and etched glass piece created in our Studio to commemorate your role in writing this new chapter.

Will you help us build an enduring home for creative learning?

Week 2

Leadership for the Glass Academy’s Next Chapter

As we expand SGM Glass Academy, strong leadership is essential. We are pleased to introduce Meghan Derion, Director of Education.

Meghan is an experienced arts education leader with a passion for building creative, inclusive programs that inspire students of all ages. With a strong background in curriculum development, team leadership, and hands-on studio work — including fused glass — she brings both vision and practical expertise to the Academy.

Her commitment to accessible arts education and community engagement will help shape the Academy’s next chapter.

Week 3

Help Us Unlock $30,000 for Youth Scholarships

The SGM Glass Academy is growing — and with your support, we can make it stronger than ever. We’re raising $75,000 to expand the Academy’s permanent home. And thanks to a generous supporter Yasuna Family Youth Education Fund, gifts above that goal will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $30,000, to fund youth scholarships. Every gift beyond $75K doubles its impact for the next generation of young artists.
This is more than a campaign — it’s a chance to expand opportunity:

  • Your gift helps create a dedicated learning space where students can explore glassmaking year-round.
  • It supports scholarships for young learners, ensuring that talented students have access regardless of financial circumstances.
  • It strengthens the Academy’s programs, leadership, and equipment, laying the foundation for years of creative learning.

Week 4

Cultivating the Tools for Creative Learning

Expanding SGM Glass Academy requires the right tools and
instructional infrastructure.

Campaign funds will support:

  • Kilns and flamework stations
  • Sandblasting and etching equipment
  • Studio enhancements including furnishings and materials for year-round instruction

These foundational investments ensure students learn in a space designed for creativity, focus, and excellence.

Week 5

A Studio Piece to Mark This Moment

The SGM Glass Academy is expanding to give more students the chance to explore glassmaking, build creative skills, and experience hands-on learning. To make this vision a reality, we are raising $75,000 to strengthen Academy programs and scholarship opportunities for young learners.

To celebrate this campaign, donors of $500 or more will receive a limited-edition blown and etched glass piece, crafted by Peter Waechter, SGM Lead Glass Blower. This exclusive piece is a symbol of your role in supporting the next generation of artists.

Week 6

Honoring a Legacy — The David Leary Arts & Education Center

The Academy’s future has a name: the David Leary Arts & Education Center. David Leary has served as Past President, Officer, and Trustee for over 20 years, dedicating his time and leadership to advancing the Museum’s mission. Naming the Center in his honor recognizes this extraordinary commitment and marks a milestone in our journey to create a hands-on space where creativity, learning, and community come together.

With your support, we can make this vision a reality. With this dedicated environment, we’ll be able to:

  • Offer year-round instruction
  • Expand youth programming
  • Provide youth scholarships to ensure access for all
  • Host visiting artists and experts
  • Equip students with the proper tools for hands-on learning

Week 7

Build the Modern Glass Town for Young Artists

In the 19th century, the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company built more than a factory — it built a community of craft, creativity, and learning, earning Sandwich the nickname “Glass Town.”

Today, the SGM Glass Academy continues that legacy. Your gift helps create a modern Glass Town — a place where artists can learn, experiment, and grow.

We’re making strong progress toward our $75,000 goal, but we still need your support. Every gift helps:

  • Expand hands-on learning programs
  • Provide scholarships for talented young artists
  • Strengthen the Academy’s educational resources

Week 8

Final Days to Build Sandwich’s Glass Town Legacy

We are in the final days of our $75,000 campaign.

For over 150 years, Sandwich has been known as “Glass Town” — a place where craft, learning, and community thrived.

Every gift brings us closer to building a modern Glass Town, where everyone — from beginners to experienced artists — can learn, create, and thrive.
