Step into more advanced soft glass sculpting in this intermediate class focused on building small figures with intention, control, and flow. Students will learn how to construct glass forms starting from the body and working outward, developing figures that feel balanced and expressive.
This class emphasizes heat management, timing, and the strategic order of adding details. You’ll learn how to use gravity and flame control to guide shape, while carefully planning when and where to add features so smaller elements aren’t overheated or lost in the process. The result is a deeper understanding of how soft glass behaves as a sculptural material and how to maintain control while building complexity.
Perfect for students ready to move beyond basic beadwork, this class introduces a more structured approach to figure building while still leaving room for creativity and personality.
Safety & What to Expect
This class is held at our HyArts Campus Flamework Studio
Working with molten glass requires attention to safety at all times. All participants must wear 100% cotton or linen clothing (no synthetic fabrics), along with closed-toe shoes. Long hair must be tied back securely before class.
Protective eyewear will be provided to help you safely view the flame and glowing glass during the workshop.
All pieces created during class must cool slowly in a kiln overnight to ensure durability and prevent cracking. Finished work will be available for pickup the following day.
