About Fritz Glass

Fritz Lauenstein began blowing glass in 1974 at Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine, before studying at Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont, and the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. In 1984, Fritz and his partner June moved to Cape Cod, where his family has deep roots, and they opened Fritz Glass in 1991. Since then, Fritz’s vibrant, colorful glassware has developed an international following, with his work featured by renowned institutions and retailers including Barney’s, Neiman Marcus, the Smithsonian, Anthropologie, and even on the White House Christmas tree. Widely recognized as one of today’s leading marble makers, Fritz creates distinctive, one-of-a-kind pieces celebrated for their color, craftsmanship, and playful character. A Cape Cod favorite, Fritz Glass has a welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere where friends and visitors may have the opportunity to watch Fritz at work and experience the community surrounding his studio. Fritz Glass is a production shop without set hours or scheduled demonstrations or classes, and visitors are welcome by chance to see Fritz at work and discover his unique glass creations.
