Step into the mesmerizing world of molten glass in this hands-on flameworking workshop! Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of working with soft glass—learning how it softens, flows, and transforms in the flame. Guided step by step, you’ll create your own unique glass beads using a metal mandrel while discovering essential techniques like pulling delicate stringers, adding colorful dots, and experimenting with surface textures.
This class is all about exploration and creativity, watching solid glass come alive as it melts, twists, and takes shape right before your eyes. Whether you’re drawn to bold patterns or subtle designs, you’ll have the freedom to play, experiment, and develop your own style. Along the way, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the material and the magic behind the process.
No prior experience needed—just curiosity and a willingness to have fun!
Safety & What to Expect
This class will be held at our HyArts Campus Flamework Studio
Working with molten glass is exciting, but it does require a few important safety precautions. For your protection, all participants must wear 100% cotton or linen clothing (synthetic fabrics are not allowed), along with closed-toe shoes. If you have long hair, please be sure to tie it back securely before class.
Please note that all glass pieces created during the workshop must cool slowly in a kiln overnight to ensure durability and prevent cracking. Your finished beads will be ready for pickup the following day.
